Aged to Perfection?by Roger Garcia, DO is a book about reaching perfection in your prime.?Like a bottle of fine wine that takes time. Consequently, we ?should learn to enjoy the aging process. We should be comfortable with our age and relish the wisdom that comes along with it.?Aged To Perfection?is a book designed to assist you enjoy and appreciate the rewards of age or maturity while avoiding the illness and disease that many times accompanies getting older.

Dr. Garcia is certified in anti-aging medicine and operates a BodyLogicMD center in Columbus, Ohio. In?Aged To Perfection?Dr. Garcia stresses the importance of living a healthy lifestyle of good nutrition, fitness, stress reduction, and hormone balance (the same topics we cover on this website).

Aged To Perfection explains breakthrough treatments involving the use of bioidentical hormones, nutrition, and exercise. Bioidentical hormones serve as Dr. Garcia?s foundation in his approach to preventive medicine. Dr. Garcia shares many inspirational stories of patients he has treated using them as examples of how the foundational principles of healthy lifestyle can lead to dramatic changes in a person?s health.

Dr. Garcia does not let his law degree (he has one of those, too) get in the way by using complicated language. Aged To Perfection?is easy to read and easy to understand. ?In?Aged To Perfection vast amounts of medical literature are succinctly summarized within each chapter with a detailed reference list at the end of the book. Dr. Garcia adeptly clears the confusion surrounding the use of bioidentical hormones.

Aged To Perfection?goes beyond hormones, though. In addition to chapters on nutrition and fitness, Dr. Garcia includes chapters on environmental issues that affect our health, overcoming being your own worst enemy (being careful of your health habits), and the final one called ?Mastering Your Maturity? by learning to celebrate your age, embracing change, seeking out new challenges, and cultivating new relationships.

Aged To Perfection?is the perfect complement to the other books we have reviewed.

The Lebanon-based restaurant chain already sells items like pancake and corn muffin mixes, cobbler filling and syrup in the stores attached to its restaurants and online.

But The Tennessean reports (http://tnne.ws/XJUP35) that the chain has signed a multiyear licensing agreement with John Morrell Food Group, a Smithfield Foods subsidiary, that will make those products available at grocery stores, mass merchandisers and other retail outlets.

Stephen Anderson, an analyst with Miller Tabak, said that using a licensing agreement is smart because it puts most of the risk on John Morrell if the venture fails. John Morrell also has a large presence in Western states where?Cracker?Barrel?currently has little or no footprint.

Cracker?Barrel?has not yet said when its products will hit store shelves or how much revenue the company expects the strategy to generate.

The company said in a statement that it hopes the move will greatly increase awareness of the?Cracker?Barrel?brand, which is part of a strategic plan the company adopted in 2012 under pressure from its largest shareholder.

Sardar Biglari, who now holds a 19.99 percent stake in?Cracker?Barrel, has called the brand "an underutilized asset" and has pushed the company to branch into licensing and franchising.

"The?Cracker?Barrel?brand can reach more consumers through supermarkets, which most American households must frequent, whereas not all of them will enter a?Cracker?Barrel?store in the coming year," he wrote in a 2011 letter to the company.

Retail currently accounts for just 20 percent of the company's annual revenues.

Anderson said the retail push could be good for the company, but it is important that they avoid offering so many products that they cannibalize restaurant sales. It's a mistake some other chains have made, especially with the introduction of frozen versions of their menu items.

"If they steer clear of that, I don't think the restaurant operations will be affected that much," he said.

The Effects of Educational Attainment on Salaries for Post ...

As a retired educator and?having?spent the great majority of my career in higher education I am always?curious?about how post-secondary education effects the lives of those who have?attained?a degree in higher education. A few days ago I learned about ?NSF SESTAT?2008 National Survey of Recent?College Graduates Public Use File?, a comprehensive and integrated?system of?information about the employment, educational and demographic?characteristics?of individuals with post-secondary degrees with a focus on scientists?and?engineers in the United States.

One?of the major?outcomes of attaining a postsecondary degree is its impact on
socio-economic status,?namely salary. With the SESTAT database in hand I examined salary?outcomes,?controlling for a number of covariates.

I. Variables

Variables for Multiple Regression and Logistic RegressionIt?should be?noted that I restricted the analysis to exclude individuals who?responded that?they were not in the labor force.

The purpose of this study is to assess each of?the above covariate?s influence on the dependent variable, salary.

II. Model Specification and Findings

The following multiple regression equation was specified, producing the results described in this section:

Salary equation

Please?see?Appendix A for the multiple regression output.

The model explains 46?percent of?the variance in salary for degree holders (Prob > F =?0.0000) in the labor force. All of the covariates are statistically significant.

In the following section I provide graphs for each covariate effect on predicted salary,?controlling?for all the other covariates. In each case I plot the predictive margins?against age distribution on the horizontal axis.

1. Highest Attained Degree ? ?DGRDG?

Impact of Highest Degree on Salary

Individuals who attain a doctorate or professional degree can expect a higher predicted salary, holding all other variables constant. ?Master degree, doctorate and professional degree holders are predicted to make $8,428, $16,144 and $19,328, respectively, more?than individuals with the baccalaureate degree as their highest degree.

Hiigest degree contrast

The 95% confidence intervals are provided in the above table.

2. Job Satisfaction

Impact of Job Satisfaction on Salary

Individuals who exhibit higher job satisfaction are more likely to enjoy a higher predicted salary. Individuals who are very satisfied with their job are predicted to make more than $6,700 per year than ?very dissatisfied? employees.?

?3. Attendance at a Community College

Impact of Attending a Community College on Salary

Individuals who at some point in their educational career attended a community college enjoy a $1,346 yearly advantage in salary. ?It?s been suggested that this outcome may be due ?to ?health field graduates? which includes many nursing students with bachelor?s degrees who subsequently get good paying positions in the health care industry.? This would be a good hypothesis to test but it appears the public release file that I am using doesn?t provide the level of detail to test the hypothesis.

4. Sex

Impact of Gender on Salary

Males are predicted, all other variables held constant, to make more than $4,500 per year throughout the age distribution.

5. Job Related to Degree

Impact of Job Related to Degree on Salary

Individuals who are working in jobs closely related to their degree make $4,321?more than individuals who respond that their job is not related to their degree. Individuals with a job ?Somewhat related to their degree? experience only a $347 difference in yearly salary compared to individuals who are employed in jobs ?Closely related to their degree?.

6. Primary Work Activity

Impact of Primary Work Activity on Salary

Individuals whose primary work activity is in computer applications enjoy higher predicted earnings than the other identified work domains, controllng for all other covariates. The teaching domain is associated with the lowest predicted salaries over the age distribution.

The regression analysis set the ?Research & Development? as the reference. Let?s see how the coefficients change when ?Teaching? is set as the reference group.

Primary work activity contrast with teaching as primary reference group

Holding all other covariates constant, on a yearly basis teachers make $5,371 less than ?Research & Development? personnel; $10,339 less than individuals working in the ?Management and Administration? domain; $13,454 less than individuals whose primary work activity is in computer applications; and $7,687 less than people working in domains classified as ?Other?.

7. Highest Degree Major

Impact of Highest Degree Major on Salary

How does ?Highest Degree Major? influence predicted salaries? The multiple regression set ?Computer/Math? as the reference group. As the adjusted means suggest the ?Engineering? major enjoys the highest salaries, let?s set ?Engineering? as the reference group for ease of comparison. (In Stata version 12 this is done with the contrast command: contrast?rb5.MAJOR_HI_DEG, nowald effects.)

Major High Degree contrast with engineering set as reference group

The closest yearly salaries to individuals with their highest degree in engineering are individuals with ? you guessed it ? ?S&E Related? (?science and engineering related?) degrees. ?Biology/Ag/Life Sciences? earn $17,134 less than individuals with their highest degree in engineering.

8. Full-Time Status

It should be no surprise that full-time working status predicts higher salaries over part-time working status. The gap is over $18,000 per year.

III. Conclusion

When I utilize a regression analysis to attempt to understand some phenomena I always attempt to remember George E. P. Box?s assertion that,??All models are wrong; the practical question is how wrong do they have to be to not be useful.??The specified model explains a considerable amount (46%) of the variance in salaries among post-secondary degree holders employed in the labor force. However, we know there are many other important variables that influence salary levels ? motivation, self-concept, locus of control, mother and father?s socio-economic background, to name just a few. Despite the limitations of this research I am hopeful it provides some utility for individuals interested in understanding the variance of post-secondary degree holder salaries in the workforce.

Appendix A

Multiple regression - Salary

Note: The?second categories of ?Job Satisfaction? and ?Job Related to Degree? are?not?statistically significant. In these?two cases?I ran a test to determine if the overall effect of?the variables were significant. In each case the outcome indicated the overall effect?was?significant, so ?Job Satisfaction? and ?Job Related to Degree? were maintained in the?model specification. ? Previous to the accepted model specification the following variables were found not to be significant predictors of salary: ?Minority status?, ?Undergraduate GPA?, ?Attainment of an Associate Degree? and a quadratic expression of Age.

S&P 500 closes higher but just below 1,500

13 hrs.

The S&P 500 closed higher for the seventh-consecutive session Thursday after crossing above the 1,500 level for the first time since December 2007, but Apple ended near session lows, putting a damper on the tech-heavy Nasdaq.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 46.00 points, or 0.33 percent, to end at 13,825.33, led by Cisco and Boeing. Alcoa led the blue-chip laggards.

The Dow is up more than 5 percent so far this month, on pace for the best January performance since 1997 when the index rose 5.7 percent. The index is also within 3 percent of its all-time closing high of 14,164.53 points hit on October 9, 2007.?

The S&P 500 squeezed out a gain of 0.01 points to finish at 1,494.82, logging its first seven-day win streak since October 2006. Earlier, the index crossed above 1,500 for the first time since December 2007.?

Related: S&P Tops 1,500: Where the Market Goes From Here

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq declined 23.29 points, or 0.74 percent, to close at 3,130.38, mainly dragged by Apple. The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX), widely considered the best gauge of fear in the market, ended above 12.

Most key S&P sectors finished in positive territory, led by consumer discretionary and health care, while techs slumped.

"Even Apple can't affect this market rally," said Yu-Dee Chang, chief trader at ACE Investment Strategists. "We're at the psychological 1,500 level so we may spend some time?maybe even days?going back and forth around here. And if we don't fall off, the market has another leg up."

Chang noted that since the market lows of March 2009, the index on average has cycled between gains of 13.5 percent and declines of 7.7 percent.

"So take the low in November?a 13 percent gain would put us near 1,520 on the S&P," explained Chang. "And then people will look for reasons to pull back. And when we get to that level, we would want to be a little bit cautious."

Among earnings, Apple plunged nearly 10 percent after the world's most valuable company by market cap posted revenue that fell short of estimates and iPhone sales that missed quarterly expectations. The tech giant's stock has plunged nearly 33 percent from its all-time high of $705 last September. At least 13 brokerages slashed their price target on the company.?

Major Apple suppliers including Broadcom, Skyworks and Qualcomm also declined.?

Meanwhile, Netflix skyrocketed after the movie-streaming site posted a profit of 13 cents a share, blowing past expectations for a loss. In addition, the company handed in current-quarter guidance that topped estimates.

On the economic front, weekly jobless claims fell 5,000 to a seasonally adjusted 330,000, dropping to its lowest level in nearly five years, according to the Labor Department . Analysts polled by Reuters had expected claims to rise to 355,000 last week.

"The Fed Chairman [Ben Bernanke] said he wants to see substantial gains in the labor market before they're going to take the foot off the pedal?so this isn't enough to bring us there yet, but this is not a bad number," said Jim Iuorio, director at TJM Institutional Services.?In December, the central bank pledged to keep interest rates low until employment falls below 6.5 percent and inflation tops 2.5 percent.

"We have stock market tailwinds in Asia with the fact that they're devaluing the yen and China is providing stimulus in addition to a decent PMI?so this is not bad," continued Iuorio. "The chart is not giving us a reason to sell the stock market yet either, except for the fact that it may be a little long in the tooth."

Leading indicators gained 0.5 percent in December, according to the Conference Board. Economists polled by Reuters forecast an increase of 0.3 percent.

Also among earnings, Dow component 3M rose after the conglomerate reported earnings that met Street expectations, driven by strong performance in its consumer, graphics and health care segments.

CSN's Curran: Brady to blame for 2nd-half shutout

January 21, 2013, 1:06 am

???
FOXBORO - For the Patriots, it begins and ends with Tom Brady.

Sunday night, in his sixth AFC Championship game, he wasn't good enough.

Over the next few days there will be discussion of what this loss means to Tom Brady's "legacy." It will be noted that Brady is 7-7 in his last 14 playoff games after winning the first 10 in which he played.

It will be additionally pointed out that Brady hasn't won a Super Bowl in eight seasons.

And it's unlikely that anyone will see the irony in the fact those numbers are supposed to be damning. Six conference title appearances in 12 seasons as a starter (we'll include '08 for consistency sake). Two Super Bowl appearances in which he turned the ball over to his defense with a lead late in the fourth quarter that the Patriots happened to lose. A .500 record in the playoffs since that absurd start - 17-7 against the best competition in the sport?

Legacy talk aside, though, this is a game in which Brady shoulders blame for guiding an offense that scored a mere 13 points.

Brady went 29 for 54 for 320 yards with a touchdown and two picks. Neither pick was as consequential as the missed opportunities on key third downs throughout the game.

This wasn't a game the Patriots can reasonably say they handed to Baltimore. The Ravens took it. But the opportunities for New England were there early and they didn't finish them.

After stalling at their 42 on the first drive of the game, the Patriots went into Ravens territory on their next SIX drives.

The Patriots had 12 possessions and only three ended without them making it across midfield. That's incomprehensible for an offense as explosive as New England's to finish the night with 13 points. But that's what happened.

"That was a bad day, bub," Brady said to me when I stopped past his locker after the game. "Bad day at the office."

When he stepped to the podium, Brady was downcast.

"I think we obviously didn't play very well and if you don't play very well against a good team, it's not even very competitive," he said. "It's unfortunate. We just couldn?t make any critical plays when we needed to."

Despite missed opportunities in the first half, Brady did stake the Patriots to a 13-7 lead at the half. New England was just 67-0 under Brady when leading at halftime. And now they aren't.

There were a few critical sputters for the Patriots but one of the most significant came in the third quarter. New England forced a punt, took over at their own 9 and made it all the way to the Ravens 34. A third-and-8 drop by Wes Welker, though, forced New England to punt. And instead of being up 16-7 or even 20-7, the Ravens took the Zoltan Mesko punt and went on a 10-play, 87-yard drive that put them up 14-13 and in the lead for good.

The Patriots mismanaged the clock in the final minute of the first half and should have been able to take a shot at the end zone before settling for a field goal.

One of the most irksome aspects of the game for the Patriots had to be the success they had on first down throughout, followed by an inability to sustain drives.

In the first half, they gained 98 yards on 18 first-down plays. In the second half, until it got to garbage time with 2:05 remaining, they gained 96 on 11 first down plays. 194 yards on 19 first down plays - more than 10 yards per play - and they kept bogging down on second and third-and-short.

"We stayed on track for the most part and avoided some negative plays," said Brady. "But they make it tough on you. They're a good team. They?re a good defense and they kept the pressure on and we just didn?t really stand up to the challenge.

"It always comes to a screeching halt," Brady said when asked about the finality of the loss. "That?s just the way it is. Only two teams advance and those two teams deserve it. We?ve lost before. It takes awhile to get over."

Obamas plan will do little, Florida gun industry says

    Published: Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 1:27 p.m.
    Last Modified: Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 1:27 p.m.

Floridians involved in the gun trade were quick to react to President Barack Obama?s plan to reduce gun violence, saying the proposals threaten their business, infringe upon their rights and accomplish little.

Critics of the president?s agenda said that Florida?s gun laws have long been protective of an individual?s right to keep and bear arms ? so much so that it has given rise to the nickname: ?The Gunshine State.?

While California and several northeastern states have clamped down on military-style firearms, the weapons remain relatively unregulated in Florida.

The same is true for their 30-round magazines ? called ?high-capacity magazines? by gun control advocates and ?standard capacity? by their owners.

Florida requires no permit, license or identification card to buy or possess firearms and ammunition, as Illinois and some states do.

If a gun owner wants to carry a concealed pistol, the licensing process is simple and quick. The state also will sell a concealed carry license to non-residents. So far, more than 1.2 million have been sold at about $100 each.

The state?s preemption laws prohibit local governments from enacting their own gun regulations.

John Krotec owns Sarasota?s Environeers, a hiking and camping store that also sells firearms. He said the entire gun debate has been ?overblown and misunderstood.?

?Quite honestly, I?m not sure this is a good thing,? Krotec said. ?Do we restrict weapons based upon hysteria and fear, or do we implement the Second Amendment as the founding fathers saw fit?

?In a free society, you do not punish the 99 percent because 1 percent can?t follow the rules. The Second Amendment was a radical proposal at that time. The reality is, those guys had it right.

?Now, to place restrictions on a constitutional right is a serious offense.?

Sean Caranna ? founder and executive director of Florida Carry Inc., a gun-rights group with more than 9,000 members ? has long supported enhanced background checks, so long as private firearms sales will still be allowed.

Caranna said that bans of weapons and magazines ? especially the AR-15 ? are another story.

?The AR-15 is the most popular-selling rifle in America today, and it has been for many years. It?s a 50-year-old rifle,? Caranna said. ?This is really just a knee-jerk reaction that will only punish law-abiding people for the actions of a few crazies.

?Magazines ? we?re talking about something that?s standard equipment with most firearms. Most pistols have a magazine capacity of 15-19 rounds. Thirty-round mags have come with the AR-15 since its inception.

?We need to focus on the criminals, not a misused tool. To say that by banning this or banning that is going to stop murders is preposterous.?

John Buchan, co-owner of Sarasota?s High Noon Guns, said the president?s plan was ?a lot of rhetoric, a lot of stuff that?s been in place before, but not anything that will really help.?

Buchan strongly supports background checks and integrating mental health with criminal information.

?I back him on that 100 percent,? he said. ?But he needs to enforce it. This has been in place ? they don?t tell you that ? but it?s never been enforced. Who?s fault is that??

Buchan opposes the proposed 10-round magazine restriction. ?What?s that mean? Is is OK to shoot 10 people but not 11?? he asked.

Buchan spends nearly all of his day online and calling distributors searching for products to sell.

?Everybody?s so scared, they?re buying up everything,? he said. ?Try to find a semi-auto .22 rifle. Try to find a Glock. Try to find a Ruger LC9. You can?t. They?re all gone, or the manufacturers are hoarding. This is going to hurt business in the long run.?

Joe Krawtschenko, owner and lead firearms trainer of Bradenton?s Aegis Tactical, wonders if there will be any ?assault weapons? left to ban.

Krawtschenko is one of 60,000 attendees at the 2013 SHOT Show, the firearms industry?s premier trade show held this week in Las Vegas. It is not a gun show per se because it is not open to the public. Only manufacturers, distributors, retailers and others with proper credentials can get in.

Krawtschenko, who has a federal firearms license, was looking for one thing at the SHOT show: he wanted to buy guns for his customers.

?Almost all ARs and military style weapons are gone,? he said by phone from the show. ?There?s a few guns selling for $2,000 over retail. People are going crazy.?

One national firearms distributor Krawtschenko spoke to ? who usually has thousands of ARs in warehouses ? had only 15 guns left. Magazines and parts also are largely sold out.

While he disagrees with the weapons and magazine bans, Krawtschenko also sees no harm in background checks.

?At some of these gun shows, the deals are in the parking lot,? he said. ?The so-called collector who?s ?downsizing? his collection, if he?s at every single gun show, that guy is selling guns without a license.?

Marion Hammer, Florida?s National Rifle Association chief, declined to comment, saying the president?s proposal was a national issue better addressed by the NRA national headquarters.

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

HBT: Bochy is glad that Posey is skipping WBC

I think most managers would prefer it if their players opted out of playing in the World Baseball Classic. They tend not to say so too loudly because the Official Position of Major League Baseball is that the WBC is awesome sauce on top of a tasty, international market expanding sundae, but you figure most would rather have their players in camp, ramping up to the season in a slower, more conventional manner rather than playing real competitive baseball.

In the case of Buster Posey, who will not be playing in the WBC, Bruce Bochy doesn?t bother to hide his happiness:

?Every player has the decision and we respect the decision,? Bochy said. ?In our case, sure, we played till November. For a catcher, in particular, that?s a long season ? and Buster spent all last offseason rehabbing. He played a lot more games than we thought. So I think he?s doing the right thing because he understands how much earlier he?d have to crank it up and be game ready.?

The whole story can be read over at CSNBayArea.

As yen weakens, BOJ gov says easing to persist

(AP) ? The governor of Japan's central bank says it will persist in easing monetary conditions as it tries to pull the country out of a deflationary slump.

In comments Tuesday to branch managers of the central bank, Bank of Japan Gov. Masaaki Shirakawa noted risks from the European debt crisis and continued tensions with China over a territorial dispute that are inhibiting investment by Japanese manufacturers and other businesses.

Japan's currency, the yen, has slipped against the U.S. dollar and euro recently, in a slide that began in anticipation that Shinzo Abe, head of the Liberal Democratic Party, would become prime minister. Abe has been lobbying the central bank for aggressive action for months, demanding that it meet an inflation target of about 2 percent, despite the bank's ostensibly independent status.

So far prices remain flat, Shirakawa said, indicating scant progress toward escaping deflation.

In announcing a 20 trillion yen ($225 billion) economic stimulus package last Friday, Abe reiterated his calls for the central bank to do more to boost growth.

"The Bank of Japan recognizes it is crucial for the economy to overcome deflation as soon as possible and resume a sustainable growth path with price stability," Shirakawa said according to a copy of his remarks on the BOJ's web site.

The yen's fall to its lowest level since April 2011 has helped relieve pressure on manufacturers whose competitiveness and profitability have suffered due in part to the currency's prolonged appreciation. But many businesses have expressed concern that the yen could fall too far, adding to uncertainties and raising costs for imported fuel and other commodities.

At midday Tuesday, the yen was trading at 89.07 to the dollar, down 0.5 percent from the day before. For much of past year the yen traded below 80 to the dollar. It was at 118.82 yen per euro, down 0.8 percent.

(AP Photo/Elise Amendola)

One game is a rematch. The other might feel like one ? at least to one of the teams.

For the second straight year in the AFC, the New England Patriots will host the Baltimore Ravens with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.

In the NFC, it will be San Francisco traveling to Atlanta, with the Falcons defense trying to stop a versatile, running quarterback for the second straight week.

"Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick are mobile quarterbacks who throw the ball at extremely accurate levels," Falcons safety Thomas DeCoud said. "We can use this game as a cheat sheet to prepare for next week."

On Sunday, the Falcons barely got past Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks, who overcame a 20-point deficit to take a one-point lead, but gave it up after Matt Ryan drove Atlanta into field goal range and Matt Bryant made a 49-yard kick with 8 seconds left.

Atlanta is the only team not making a repeat appearance in the NFL's final four. Last year, it was the Giants playing, and beating, the 49ers for the NFC title.

On Saturday, Kaepernick passed for 263 yards and rushed for 181 ? a playoff record for a quarterback ? to defeat Green Bay 45-31.

"We're one step closer to where we want to be," said Kaepernick. San Francisco hasn't been to the Super Bowl since 1995, when Steve Young led the 49ers to their fifth Lombardi Trophy.

Though the Niners must travel cross country for the game, they opened as 3-point favorites in a meeting of teams that played twice a year until 2003, when Atlanta was moved from the NFC West to the NFC South. Their only previous playoff meeting was a 20-18 win for the Falcons in the 1998 divisional playoffs. Atlanta won at Minnesota the next week to make its only Super Bowl.

San Francisco's 20-17 overtime loss last year to the Giants was part of a tense day of football that began with New England's 23-20 victory over the Ravens in the AFC title game.

In that game, Billy Cundiff missed a 32-yard field goal that would have tied the game with 11 seconds left.

This season, Justin Tucker beat out Cundiff for the kicker's job. Tucker hit a 47-yarder against Denver on Saturday to lift the Ravens to a 38-35 win in double overtime, extending Ray Lewis' career for at least one more week and putting the 17-year veteran one win away from his second Super Bowl.

"We fought hard to get back to this point and we're definitely proud of being here," Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco said. "We feel like it's going to take a lot for somebody to come and kick us off that field come the AFC championship game."

Lewis and the Ravens will have to stop the NFL's most potent offense. The Patriots put up 457 yards in a 41-28 victory over Houston, which left them one win away from their sixth Super Bowl in the 2000s.

"I think the two best teams are in the final," Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said. "Baltimore certainly deserve to be here and so do we."

The Patriots were made early 9?-point favorites against the Ravens.

These teams met in the regular season and that game was also decided by a kick ? Tucker's 27-yard field goal that sneaked through the right upright for a 31-30 victory. Or did it?

While the Ravens were celebrating, Pats coach Bill Belichick ran to midfield and grabbed a replacement official's arm as he tried to exit the field. The NFL fined Belichick $50,000 for the gesture.

New England is the even-money favorite in Vegas to win the Super Bowl. San Francisco is next at 2-1, followed by Atlanta (5-1) and Baltimore (8-1).

Among the possible Super Bowl story lines:

?The Harbaugh Bowl. Jim Harbaugh coaches the 49ers and John Harbaugh coaches the Ravens.

?A rematch of San Francisco's 41-34 win at New England on Dec. 16 ? one of the most entertaining games of the regular season.
